Extreme Halloween Wedding

This extreme wedding cake was created for a Halloween wedding. The bride and groom needed a unique cake show their love for this holiday as well as their love for each other. We were all to happy to take this on. Any reason to put batteries and lights onto a cake!

Chocolate chocolate chip cake filled with vanilla flavored buttercream icing provided a base for the fondant decorations and chocolate jack-o-lanterns on top. Two LED lights lit up the jack-o-lanterns for a spooky presentation at dusk.

Thomas The Tank

Thomas the Tank is a favorite for the kids. We took great care and attention to detail to ensure the client, a 4 year old boy, was sufficiently impressed. His reaction as we walked through the front door confirmed that we did our job.

Thomas was created with chocolate cake and buttercream icing and decorated with vanilla fondant and serves 30.

Lulu’s Custom Cakes operates on a “first come first serve” basis. For best results you should order your cake online or contact us directly 2 – 3 weeks before your event date; even sooner if you have a weekend event. We have been known to whip out a simple cake overnight but our schedule is pretty tight filling orders so be sure to give us call as soon as possible.

Lulu’s Custom Cakes is a tribute to both of my grandmothers. One used to call me Lulu and the other would bake fantastic cakes. I miss them so much but each time I mention Lulu’s Custom Cakes, or bake another cake, I remember them. So when you think about Lulu’s Custom Cakes know that it’s not just a business; it’s personal.

Official Construction Starts

I’ve been putting if off long enough. It is time to start working on the bakery again. Really it’s just an extra room in the house that we are remodeling to be used as the bakery, but we have high hopes that this addition will greatly improve the process. More storage and, especially, more room to work! My goal is to keep you posted on the progress and maybe, just maybe, that will be the accountability I need to get it done. Wish me luck!

Navy Cargo Plane

This was a fun cake to build! After carving three layers of cake into a smooth cylinder we attached the nose and tail which were made out of cereal treats. The two engines were also made out of cereal treats and covered with fondant. We tried a few different methods for the wings but ended up using cardboard cutouts covered with fondant; it was the best solution for a straight wing.

The most fun was delivering this cake to a very surprised Navy pilot who had just returned from the Middle East. This was a replica of the plane he flies in the Navy and he was amazed at the similarities to the real thing.
